Mark Johnson

Festival Manager

Mark joined the team in 2021, and manages the Being Human Festival, as well as the wider School of Advanced Study (SAS) Public Engagement team. Prior to joining SAS, Mark worked for King’s College London and UCL in engagement and events roles, working with researchers, artists, performers, and cultural institutions to produce creative engagement activities. Mark has previously worked in museums and galleries, including the Science Museum’s curatorial team and in visitor experience at The Whitworth and the Science and Industry Museum.

Mark is passionate about working with non-academic publics in creative ways, making humanities research accessible and engaging, and collaborating with cultural and community partners. Please get in touch with Mark if you have any questions about the Being Human Festival.
