International
We believe that ideas and research in the humanities are not bound by borders or contained by nations.
Being Human Festival is primarily a UK based festival, and funding is currently only available to support activities in the UK. However, each year we do include a number of international activities in the programme that fit the festival’s ethos and can run without financial support. If you are not based in the UK but have an idea for a strong activity that you think aligns with the festival’s aims, please get in touch with us.
We are keen to collaborate with international partners and believe our unique festival model and our approach to public engagement can help open up the humanities to different communities around the world.
Since 2016, activities have taken place in France, Italy, Romania and Singapore, with international festival Hubs taking place at the University of Melbourne (Australia) and Princeton University (United States). Furthermore, during the covid-19 pandemic, many festival events and activities moved online or to hybrid delivery, removing geographic barriers to engagement and enabling further reach across the globe.
