Get up close and personal with watery histories through records and objects from the vast collection of the National Archives, the riverside repository holding 700 years of Thames history.
Document display and talks: (no booking necessary) drop-in between 15:00 and 19:00
Drop in and explore records from hundreds of years ago on a cruise through time, and hear what life, work, and play looked like on the river. Interested in Chaucer’s time as a port official in the 14th century? Or the speech given by Ivor Cummings welcoming passengers aboard the Empire Windrush in 1948? Discover all this and more at quick-fire talks with historians, running continuously throughout the session.

Did you know that scientific analysis can help us discover the hidden history of an object?
Join a team of heritage scientists as they investigate materials discovered in archival collections. Play with pigments and parchment and find the connections from the Thames to the rest of the world. Be prepared to get a bit messy in the Clore Learning Centre!
