As part of this year's Being Human Festival, Prof. Ioana Oltean and her team from the Department of Archaeology and History and from the Digital Humanities Lab at the University of Exeter will give everyone the opportunity to experience first-hand how things that matter to them as individuals and to locals in Exeter and the surrounding area, can become digital data.

The activity will:

  • Introduce everyone taking part to digital cultural heritage and each participant to various technologies that capture information about them in a digital format (e.g. scanners, photogrammetry settings, drones).
  • Start conversations about values and potential for transformation in the world around us.
  • Demonstrate the use of digital photos, maps and 3D models to create digital artefacts and places that tell stories about Exeter and its past.

This activity is aimed at children and curious primary and secondary school teachers! This is a drop-in activity and booking is not required. Please note: this is a closed event.

This event is part of a series of events led by University of Exeter.
