Scheduled dates
Help children to plan a rap or speech song, using materials from the 'Lost Wor(l)ds' project, led by Dr Sabine Little at the University of Sheffield, which aims to enable children to bring all their home languages into all aspects of their lives. Developed for primary schools, but used in heritage language schools, families, performing arts schools, the activity showcases the language skills children have, and facilitates children to have their linguistic identities valued in typically monolingual contexts.
Visit the multilingualism in schools website to access resources and details on how to submit performances. During the festival itself, return to the site to view an online exhibition of the submitted works, taking the opportunity to engage via feedback and comments.
