Come along to Fairfield Heritage community museum and see the maritime and shipbuilding displays afresh through the eyes of Muriel and Jasper, who are attending the launch of Canadian Pacific's Empress of Britain in 1955 and plan to travel on the maiden voyage.

Muriel, arrayed in her most glamorous tea dress, will advise you on the manners and etiquette expected at the royal launch and on board a transatlantic liner. She will even help you choose what clothes and books to pack. Come along if you would like to learn more about ships built at Fairfield and their heroic or disastrous fates, or to share your family's memories of ocean liners. Tea will be served, on the proper china of course.

This event is arranged in partnership with Artemis Scotland and the Ocean Modern project at the University of Glasgow. The museum is open 13.00 - 16.00. Attendees are welcome to drop in at any point.
