What kinds of stories are told through clothing and textiles? These workshops will invite participants to reflect on personal and collective stories of belonging, movement, and migration both to and from the Northwest of England and across the world. Drawing on the internationally renowned Gawthorpe Textile Collection and on participants’ favourite textile garments and belongings, the workshops invite local women including refugees and asylum seekers, to explore the multi-sensory verbal and non-verbal qualities of textiles and clothing through crafts, music, storytelling, and sound.
The workshops will be facilitated by the Manasamitra artist-led organisation and led by the University of Central Lancashire.
