Come along to this walk and workshop in which you can walk from Whitechapel to Bow, listening to and recording the environment. After the walk there will also be poetry writing at The Nunnery Café. 'Publishing is Power: Listening!' is an opportunity to experience a familiar environment anew through listening and recording activities with other people, followed by a supportive poetry workshop and a chance to experiment with voice and sound in writing.

The walking tour will be approximately 90 minutes long, followed by a 90 minute workshop at the Café. Please note there will be scheduled breaks throughout the walk and spaces were you can sit en-route. If you would prefer to only attend the writing workshop this is also an option.

You can attend 'Publishing is Power: Listening!' as a standalone activity or as part of the wider 'Publishing is Power' series. This is the second in a series of three activities that celebrate the arts, activism and publishing in Tower Hamlets. 'Publishing is Power' offers opportunities for people to meet, share experiences, write creatively, and get involved in DIY publishing. It is a chance to reflect on the local histories of community-led politics and multilingual literary cultures, as well as explore what’s going on in the area today. Each activity in the series is open to those aged 18 or over who are interested in the local area and in breaking into poetry and publishing, with all and any kinds of experience.
