Celebrating the launch of Professor Sebastian Groes’ memoir, Right in the Head, this event features talks with the author and creative writing workshops.
Acquired brain injuries are a leading cause of disability in working age people. Over a third of first time strokes happen in adults under 69. Injuries can be particularly traumatic for young patients coping with significant lifestyle changes. Creative activities can aid recovery, deliver cognitive benefit, lower distress and help patients adapt. Few free, accessible resources exist to help people begin a rehabilitative journey, particularly in the writing space.
This event will start off with a creative writing workshop for young(er) stroke survivors in which they explore writing non-fiction/memoir about their stroke event and recovery process and ends with Q&A between, British novelist, Jon McGregor and Sebastian Groes.
This event is part of a series of events led by the University of Wolverhampton.
