- The pasta is gluten-free and vegan. Ingredients include: tinned tomato, olive oil, basil, salt and gluten free pasta. The venue is wheelchair accessible, except for the toilets. Arrangements to use the wheelchair accessible toilets at a neighbouring diner have been made. Large print versions of materials will be available. Please contact the organiser regarding specific access requirements.

The bookshop becomes a kitchen-diner and the kitchen-diner becomes a writing studio! Join Rebecca May Johnson as she leaves a participatory cooking, eating and writing workshop.
Rebecca will cook a pasta and tomato sauce recipe from her book Small Fires, An Epic In The Kitchen. After enjoying the tastes and scents of garlic, tomato and basil, participants will take part in a writing activity. In this exercise, the tomato sauce becomes the prompt for thinking, feeling, remembering and writing. The group will then come together for a short talk from Rebecca and a reading from Rebecca's recent book Small Fires: An Epic in the Kitchen. Rebecca will gather in and read out the texts written by participants to those assembled.
A bubbling sauce soundtrack and video will play throughout the day. Writing materials will be provided. With permission, the texts written by participants will be published on the Hungry Human website, co-ordinated by the University of Essex.
