Humans have always been fascinated by the night sky. If you and your little ones are interested in finding out more about what we can see in the night sky and what it tells us about life out there as well as life down here on Earth, join us for 'What On Earth Is That?' at Grassholme Observatory. You'll learn about what we can observe in Durham's Dark Skies with the naked eye and through telescopes, and have the chance to speak with researchers about what it means for us humans today. Researchers and Grassholme Observatory's experts will give an interactive talk, then children will be able to see and touch rocks from space – meteorites! Please wear warm clothing - it can get a bit chilly out there! The autumn weather up North means we can't guarantee a cloudless sky, but unless the weather presents a health and safety risk we'll go ahead as best we can.
