Humans have always been fascinated by the night sky. If you're interested in finding out more about the night sky, the ways people respond to it, and what it tells us about life out there as well as life down here on Earth, then come along for 'What On Earth Is That?' at North Pennines Observatory at Allenheads Contemporary Arts.
You'll learn about what can be observed in the north east's dark skies, and hear from artists working at Allenheads Contemporary Arts and researchers from Durham University about how what we can see (and how we see it) affects us humans today. The event is suitable for adults and older families.
Please wear warm clothing - it can get a bit chilly out there! The autumn weather up North means a cloudless sky can't be guaranteed, but unless the weather presents a health and safety risk this event will go ahead as best it can. If you have a red light torch, please bring it along. If you would like to reserve a parking space for this event, please contact the event organiser.
