Learn about medieval writing, and get inspired by the Lindisfarne Gospels exhibition to produce a poem of your own, in this interactive workshop. Poet and creative writing tutor Richard O’Brien will begin by reading poems from and inspired by the early medieval world of the Gospels – including work written about the Ossuary at St Aidan’s Church in Bamburgh.

You’ll then have the opportunity to explore the exhibition for an hour at your own pace, seeking out treasures that catch your eye, with prompts to develop your own creative response. For the final half-hour return to the Art Studio to share some of your writing and reflect on the activity.

This activity is aimed at adults interested in engaging with the exhibition's content in a creative way, and anyone who wants to improve their creative writing skills. You will leave with your own piece of writing and with prompts to take a closer look at the objects all around you.

This event is part of Northumbria University's Festival Hub.
