Get involved

Each year we invite humanities researchers and other staff from universities and research organisations to apply to take part in the festival by organising a public engagement event, activity or project.

Interested in taking part? This year's Being Human Festival will take place 7–16 November with the theme 'Landmarks', in honour of our 10th anniversary.

Application Guidelines

We’ve updated our application pathways for the 2024 festival. Please read the Application Guidelines document available below for important information about the festival and for further details about the different pathways. You can also catch up on the recording of the 'Applying to Being Human Festival 2024' webinar which took place on 20 February, to find out more about the application process and to hear from a previous festival organiser.

If you require the documents below in alternative formats, please get in touch with us via email at beinghuman@sas.ac.uk.

Please note that staff at the School of Advanced Study, University of London, are not eligible to apply for funding through the Institutional grant or Festival Event grant pathways. Staff members from the School of Advanced Study should email beinghuman@sas.ac.uk for more information on how to take part in the festival.
