This session will cover ways to promote your public engagement event. The training will explore how to reach your target audience, how to choose the best channels and platforms for promoting your event, and how to create a simple but effective promotional plan.
Led by arts and heritage marketing consultant Beckie Smith, this training will explore practical tips for promotion, including how to implement your ideas. The session will look at how to find inspiration for your promotion, covering examples from Being Human Festival and beyond.

Beckie Smith, Flying Geese
Director and Founder of Flying Geese, a consultancy service for the Arts, Heritage and Culture Sector, Beckie is a nationally connected, senior strategic arts consultant, experienced in leading organisations through big impact change, and passionate about bringing cultural organisations closer to their audiences. She specialises in working with small and medium sized organisations where income is tight and targets can be tough, but where relationship building with audiences and communities provides genuine excitement.
Having previously been Head of Global Marketing for International Theatre Interactive, she founded Flying Geese Marketing and Development Consultancy in 2017, which in 2021 was named the ‘Best Marketing Consultancy in the Southwest’ in the Southern Enterprise Awards. Together with one of her clients, Gloucester History Trust, she has also won the Pandemic Pivot Award in the National Museums and Heritage Awards 2021.
Beckie is an experienced trainer and mentor, is a Regional Ambassador for the Arts Marketing Association, and a graduate of Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

The sessions will be led by expert facilitators with experience in their field and the Being Human Festival team. While the sessions are primarily aimed at those taking part, or thinking of taking part, in Being Human Festival, they are open to all. The sessions run from February to October 2025.
